According to Statistics Finland, producer prices for manufactured products fell by an average of 2.9 per cent from December 2019 to December 2020. The producer prices for manufactured products sold on the domestic market declined by 1.5 per cent, while the producer prices of export products fell by 4.5 per cent.

According to Statistics Finland, the annual change in the Producer Price Index for Services was 0.4 per cent in the fourth quarter of 2020. Compared to the previous quarter, producer prices for services went down by 0.1 per cent.

According to Statistics Finland's preliminary data, Finland's population at the end of December was 5,536,146. During 2020 Finland's population increased by 10,854 persons. The reason for the population increase was migration gain from abroad: the number of immigrants was 19,378 higher than that of emigrants. The number of births was 8,491 lower than that of deaths.

According to Statistics Finland's education statistics, employment of recent graduates improved further. Those with tertiary level degrees were most successful in gaining employment, close to 90 per cent of whom were working at the end of 2019. Seventy per cent of those with initial vocational education were employed, which is the same share as in 2007.

According to Statistics Finland, the number of enterprise openings fell by seven per cent in July to September 2020 compared with the respective quarter in 2019. In April to June 2020, the number of enterprise closures was 13 per cent higher than twelve months earlier.
Non-subsidised rents increased most in Turku

The rents of non-subsidised rental dwellings increased most in the year in Turku (1,6%), in Kerava (1,5%), in Espoo (1,4%), Vantaa (1,4%) and in Porvoo (1,4%) in the last quarter of 2020.
Road traffic accidents claimed 8 lives in December

According to preliminary data of Statistics Finland, 243 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in December. In them, 8 persons were killed and 308 persons injured. The number of persons killed was three lower and that of persons injured 93 lower than in December 2019. The data were compared with the previous year's preliminary data.
A total of 211 persons died in road traffic accidents in 2019

According to Statistics Finland, 4,002 road traffic accidents involving personal injury occurred in 2019. In them, 211 persons were killed and 5,013 injured. Eight per cent of the injured, or 390 persons, were injured seriously 1) . In 2019, the number of deaths was one person higher and that of injured persons 290 fewer than in 207. Seventy-eight per cent of those having died and 59 per cent of injured were men.
Number of property offences increased by 16.9 per cent

According to Statistics Finland's preliminary data, a total of 537,700 offences against the Criminal Code were recorded by the police, customs and border guard in the course of 2020, which is 84,900 cases (18.8 per cent) more than in 2019. A total of 252,500 offences against property were recorded, which is 16.9 per cent more than in the year before. Good 19,000 cases of extortions were reported and 21,000 cases of dissemination of information violating private life were reported.
Building costs fell by 0.5 per cent in December year-on-year

According to Statistics Finland, building costs fell by 0.5 per cent in December 2020 compared with the previous year. Labour costs went down by 1.4 per cent. The prices of materials and services rose by 0.1 per cent compared to one year ago.

Adjusted for working days, industrial output fell by 0.4 per cent in November 2020 from one year back. In November, seasonally adjusted output grew by 0.6 per cent from the month before. According to revised data, working-day adjusted output decreased in October 2020 by 1.8 per cent (previously -1.9 per cent) from October 2019.
Turnover in industry decreased by 1.6 per cent in November

According to Statistics Finland, working day adjusted turnover in industry (TOL BCD) decreased in November by 1.6 per cent year-on-year. Among the main industries, turnover decreased most in the chemical industry, where it was 17.1 per cent lower than one year earlier. Seasonally adjusted turnover in industry (TOL BCD) grew by 1.7 per cent compared with October.
Turnover of construction enterprises decreased by 1.5 per cent in November

According to Statistics Finland, the working day adjusted turnover of construction enterprises decreased by 1.5 per cent year-on-year in November. The volume of sales, from which the impact of prices has been eliminated, decreased by 1.3 per cent. Among construction industries, turnover and sales volume grew only in civil engineering. Turnover and sales volume in the industries of building construction and specialised construction activities fell compared to one year ago.
Inflation 0.2 per cent in December

The year-on-year change in consumer prices calculated by Statistics Finland was 0.2 per cent in December. In November, inflation stood also at 0.2 per cent. In 2020, the average inflation rate was 0.3 per cent.
Turnover and output in services fell in November

Working day adjusted turnover in service industries fell by 8.8 per cent in November 2020 from November 2019. Service output or volume, from which the impact of prices has been eliminated, fell by 6.4 per cent over the same period. In this year's October, turnover went down by 9.0 per cent, while volume contracted correspondingly by 6.3 per cent. Services are here examined exclusive of trade.
